The assessment will involve obtaining a thorough understanding of your development and life experiences, how you have experienced your gender, and your mental health.

In general, the assessment is designed to holistically explore:

  • your life to date including upbringing, culture, education, employment, development and social experiences;

  • how you have experienced your gender, and how that experience has impacted your life;

  • any factors that might negatively impact outcomes of affirmation/transition, and

  • readiness for affirmation, expectations of the surgery, and any supports you have in place. required, there may also be elements of therapy included in the assessment.

In order to complete the assessment, we may need to speak to other healthcare professionals involved in your care, but will only do so with your consent.

Assessment sessions are charged at the standard session fee, and may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. There are additional costs for the report; please note that Medicare does not provide a rebate for reports.

Assessments can be done face to face or via Telehealth.

EMDR intensive program

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a transformative therapy that taps into the brain's natural healing processes to address past traumas and emotional distress. By incorporating bilateral stimulation, typically through eye movements, EMDR helps reprocess distressing memories, paving the way for a more adaptive resolution.

What is it Used For?

EMDR has shown remarkable effectiveness in treating a range of conditions, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and various trauma-related disorders. It is a dynamic approach that promotes healing by addressing the root of distressing experiences.

If you have been through an experience which has left a lasting negative effect on you, EMDR may be suitable for you. Backed by extensive research and clinical success stories, EMDR has emerged as a gold standard in trauma-focused therapy.

Why an Intensive Program?

Our EMDR Intensive Program is designed for those seeking a focused and accelerated therapeutic journey. The concentrated format allows for deep exploration and resolution of trauma within a condensed timeframe, providing a unique and powerful healing experience. It is very time efficient because time in session is not needed for checking in at the beginning of each session, addressing new material, or engaging in a closure process at the end of session.

It may be suitable for you if you do not need, or already have, the support of a therapist ongoing. The approach can be very effective if you are wanting to heal and grow after a specific trauma or distressing event.

An EMDR Intensive Profgram may be beneficial if you feel ready to intensively address a specific treatment goal, do not require, or already have, other regular therapy sessions, and feel able to notice, tolerate and describe whatever emotions, sensations and thoughts arise in deep reprocessing therapy

What Happens in the Intensive Program?

The EMDR Intensive Program is tailored to maximize therapeutic impact and support your journey towards healing. It includes:

  • Pre- and Post-Assessment Questionnaires: Thorough assessments to tailor the program to your specific needs and track your progress.

  • Personalized Treatment Workbook: A guide that empowers you to work on your treatment goals before and after the intensive, enhancing the continuity of your healing process.

  • Half-Hour Assessment Session: An initial session, either online or by phone, to discuss your needs and ensure a personalized approach.

  • EMDR Therapy: Approximately 6 sessions over a period of two weeks, providing an immersive and focused experience.

  • Half-Hour Follow-Up Session: A concluding session to assess your adaptation to positive changes and offer ongoing support.

In an EMDR Intensive you will receive approximately six sessions of one-on-one focused EMDR Therapy. These sessions may be a standard 50-minute session or extended to a 75-minute session as needed.

Prices start from $1950 and payment plans are available.
